Ford Pro Roadshow

Ford Pro Roadshow is an augmented reality live show experience that peels back the skin of vehicles to show you the technology, innovation and intelligence that lies beneath. This is using technology to tell a technology story, positioning Ford Pro years ahead of the competition.

From a practical perspective, coming up with a tourable kit thats lightweight and robust enough, yet deliver on presence and impact at places like trade shows was the challenge.

Essentially an LED wall, 4 physical walls on the floor, a live camera relay pointed at them and a load of clever tech behind the scenes all packaged up and straight forward to build.

The way it works is by overlaying a set of pre-rendered unreal engine generated assets with an alpha channel over the feed from the camera located on the top of the wall pointed down at the static wheels on the floor - giving an ‘invisible van’ effect. The compositing is done live in QLab.

The roadshow has toured numerous countries all across Europe. It’s multi-lingual format and localisation capabilities make it an excellent platform for storytelling.

It’s first incarnation was called Backbone of Business Live - before Ford split out it’s commercial business to become Ford Pro.
